The official language in India is Hindi.
English is the second most common language in India.
The currency used throughout the country is the Indian rupee. Most vendors will also accept Mastercard or Visa. ATMs are commonplace in India.
American and Canadian passport holders entering India will need a visa. An e-visa option is available for tourists. To apply for Tourist Visa please log onto

Visas are also required for entry into Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Maldives.
Internet access is good in most major areas of India. Wi-Fi is available at most restaurants, bars, cafes, hotels, and malls. However, poor internet service does exist in remote areas and villages in India.
You can purchase a SIM card in India, but we suggest you check with your cellular provider to know what your options are. You might be able to get an affordable roaming plan.
India has many festivals and events, but two of the major festivities are Diwali and Holi. Diwali is the Hindu Festival of Lights celebrated yearly for five days in either October or November. Holi is the Hindu Festival of Colours, celebrated annually in March after the full moon.
This varies on your comforts and likings, but most travel n tours India travelers will visit the north on their first trip to India to see the Taj Mahal and the main sites in Rajasthan and Varanasi. South India can be done as an extension or a separate trip entirely. The best time to travel to India is between October through March when weather is mainly sunny, dry, and warm.
There are several ways to get around the country, but usually travel n tours India customers will travel by private vehicle and domestic flight. Bus transportation is used for group travel.
The roads in India are nowadays are in very good conditions. While travelling on the road sometimes you will also see livestock wandering along the roads. Journey times can vary due to the change in road conditions which can be brought on by the monsoons. This is beyond the control of travel n tours India. We generally use air-conditioned sedan cars.
Also the coaches we will use are also constructed locally. We will use deluxe air-conditioned coaches,but these cannot in anyway be compared to that of western coaches.

The majority of the country is safe for LGBTQ travelers and families. The country does hold somewhat conservative values, so public displays of affection between gay or straight couples is not common.
Tipping is not compulsory, but if you get exceptional service from your guide, driver, and hotel staff, a gratuity is appreciated.
Train travel in India is very exciting and a better way to evaluate the pace of India. However, trains in India are basic but comfortable. Where possible we will always try and reserve first or second class or air-conditioned carriages, but these cannot always be reserved and do not exist on all routes.
