Travel Itinerary

1 - Arrive New Delhi

You will be met at the airport and transported to your hotel. For those arriving earlier in the day take the time to recover from the flight. Check in time at the hotel is 12pm.

2 - New & Old Delhi City Tour

After breakfast visit imposing Red Fort, India’s biggest mosque Jama Masjid, Humayun’s tomb, tallest brick minaret in the world Qutub Minar. Drive past to India Gate, President’s House & colonial’s building of New Delhi.

Enjoy Rickshaw ride with visit of Old Delhi.

3 - New Delhi – Lucknow [By Train] - Sravasti

Morning board train for Lucknow. On arrival, drive to Sravasti where Buddha have executed miracles here, incorporating a creation a million-fold manifestation of himself settled on a thousand-petalled lotus, as fire and water sprung from his body.

Discover the Jetavana Monastery which is where Buddha lived most habitually, precisely in Gandhakuti which was his own chamber.

Visit Jetvana Monastery, Anand Bodh Tree & Anathapindika’s Stupa in Sravasti.

4 - Sravasti – Kushinagar

Drive to Kushinagar, where Lord Buddha expired at the age of 80. See the Mahaparinirvana Temple to see the reclining Buddha and Ramabhar Stupa where Buddha was cremated. Study the Nirvana Stupa and temple where Buddha’s ashes were buried.

5 - Kushinagar – Vaishali – Patna

Travel to Patna, pay a visit to Vaishali en route where Buddha addressed his last sermon and declared his approach to Nirvana. See the Lion Pillar raised by the Emperor Ashoka to mark this important event.

You will also watch the Relics Stupa and Ramkund here. Visit Vaishali Museum and stop at the World Peace Pagoda constructed by Japanese Buddhists.

6 - Patna – Nalanda – Rajgir – Bodhgaya

Depart for Bodhgaya. Visit Great Stupa at Nalanda en route and also the town of Rajgir to explore the Lakshmi Narayan temple and the Japanese Shanti Stupa temple.

Restart to Bodhgaya, where over 2,500 years ago, Buddha achieved enlightenment under the holy Mahabodhi tree after a long period of meditation.

7 - Bodhgaya

Explore the Maha Bodhi Temple and the Bodhi Tree where Buddha gained enlightenment. Discover Sujata Village, termed after a girl who gave milk to a starving Gautama on his way to Bodhgaya.

8 - Bodhgaya – Varanasi [ River Ganges ]

Carry on to one of the ancient and blessed Buddhist cities of the world, Varanasi. Be a spectator to the Puja ceremony of Ganga Aarti, a Hindu religious ritual held on the ghats of the River Ganges.

9 - Varanasi - Sarnath - Varanasi - Bhopal

Take an early morning boat ride sideways the River Ganges, trailed by a city tour of Varanasi. Later this mid-afternoon visit the Buddhist places at Sarnath where Buddha conveyed his first sermon after getting enlightenment. In the evening board your overnight train from Varanasi to reach Bhopal. Overnight is on board.

10 - Arrive Bhopal - Sanchi Stupa

On arrival, transfer to your hotel.

After refreshing drive to explore Sanchi – the existing example of visualization and beliefs of Emperor Ashoka. It is dotted with many Buddhist structures like pillars and stupas.

Also visit the archaeological museum where it shows the famous image of four lions that once sat atop the Ashoka Pillar. Overnight stay in Bhopal.

11 - Bhopal - Bhimbetka Caves - Aurangabad

Today explore Bhimbetka caves which are more than 600 caves. It took 16 years to unearth the entire vicinity covered by these caves.

Bhimbetka caves had been used as asylum by people from the earliest of periods. Here you will find paintings of all ages starting from Paleolithic age to medieval age. As the time passed, the paintings became smaller, shapely and more precise. The oldest painting here is said to be around 12,000 years old, whereas the most recent is around 1000 years old.

12 - Arrive Aurangabad - Ellora Caves

On arrival, get transferred to your hotel .

After fresh n up have discover Ellora Caves dating from A.D. 600 to 1000 [Closed on Tuesdays]. Positioned into the base of a hill the caves enclose intricate carvings of gods and goddesses and symbolize three of the main faiths of ancient India & Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism.

13 - Aurangabad – Ajanta - Mumbai Depart

Morning drive to Ajanta Caves [Closed on Monday’s & 110 km / 03 hrs drive by car]  It is 30 rock-cut cave monuments which date from the 2nd century BCE. The caves include paintings and sculptures considered to be masterpieces of both Buddhist religious art.

The basic designs of the caves are called ‘Chaitya grihas’ and ‘Viharas’. The caves also include a visual form of the life of Buddha and interesting stories from Jatakas.

Evening return back to the hotel and then board flight for Mumbai. On arrival at Mumbai board your flight for onwards journey
