Reach Wayanad, check in at your eco-lodge or jungle homestay surrounded by coffee and pepper estates. Later enjoy a warm local meal and relax while hearing birdsong in the background. In the evening, opt for a guided nature walk and learn about the unique flora and fauna of the Western Ghats
Wayanad is full of nature and tribal heritage. After breakfast, hike to the ancient Edakkal Caves to see prehistoric rock carvings over 6,000 years old. Afterwards, visit a tribal village to observe their crafts and way of life, or trek amidst forest trails with a naturalist guide.
Optionally you can also have bamboo rafting or a visit to the Wayanad Heritage Museum. Return to your stay for a local dinner under the stars, served by your host family.
Checkout and drive to Kozhikode and board a scenic train to Kerala’s backwater hub. Watch palm trees, temples, and village life drift by. Arrive at a local station near Alleppey, where a traditional wooden canoe or private boat takes you to your homestay.
Nestled among rice fields and canals, this peaceful hideaway offers slow living at its best. Unpack, enjoy coconut water, and watch the sunset from the water’s edge. Dinner is home-cooked and delightful.
Experience authentic backwater life. You can join locals for rice harvesting, try Chinese net fishing, or take a Kerala cooking class.
Learn pottery or weaving, or simply cruise through narrow canals on a country boat. The stride is slow, the experiences real, and the hospitality from your hosts is truly profound.
After breakfast, drive to Periyar between rubber plantations, pineapple farms, and spice hills. On arrival at Periyar check in at your plantation lodge surrounded by cardamom groves and thick forests.
Later take a spice estate tour to learn how cardamom, pepper, and cinnamon are cultivated and processed. Visit a local women’s co-operative for insights into community life.
Start your morning with a soft trek inside Periyar Tiger Reserve, escorted by tribal trackers and forest guards. Walk along forest paths, looking out for langurs, elephants, wild boar, and exotic birds. Learn about the territory’s unique flora, including medicinal plants used in Ayurveda.
Later, visit a local spice market or watch a thrilling Kalaripayattu (martial arts) performance at a local theatre.
